Welcome to the Sept 22nd Vashon Ceili
( pronounced kay-lee, this is a traditional Irish Folk Dance)
Ceili's are held monthly at the Grange Hall in Vashon's upper ferry parking lot. Its only a 15min ferry ride from Seattle - so walk on and save $$. Our instructor/caller starts the evening by teaching basic footwork (3's and 7's). And 15mins later, he has us whipped into shape and we start learning dance patterns.  We walk thru each dance slowly at first, and when we get the hang of it,  the music starts up and we get busy kicking up some dust on the dance floor. We don't repeat a dance all night so don't sit out - thinking you'll watch & catch on. Get busy on the dance floor & start laffing along with us. Its not Riverdance - that's soft shoe and hard shoe step dancing. Ceili's are more like a traditional American barn dance - suitable to all ages. We recommend leather soled shoes that glide and not sneakers that stick. Layered clothing also is a bonus as you will heat up and might want to shed a layer once you start dancing but a sweater will feel pretty good when you sit one out.  We have a live Irish band, so keep that Irish spirit alive &  come kick up your heels at the next Irish ceili.   We love newbies !!!  So don't be afraid to try your hand at it.

YOU  WILL DANCE A JIG BY NIGHTS END !!!!
