Leo MacNamara & Aurora Burd House Concert  Jan 16th '09 at the Des Moines Community Center:
Leo hails from Scariff, County Clare, which is at the east side of the county.  Scariff is steeped in Irish traditional music and is considered by many as the heart and home of the music.  In April 2009, Leo has been invited to play in the All-Star Clare Ceili Band at the Comhaltas North American Convention in St. Louis.  Leo plays regularly at Paddy Coyne's Irish Pub in Seattle & Tacoma & Bellevue and he teaches whistle & flute in the Seattle area.

Leo invited Aurora to join him at this Irish concert.  She is an adept fiddler and competed last spring in Detroit's Midwest Fleadh (winning her sr fiddle division). This qualified Aurora to compete at the
Fleadh Cheoil  2008 in Tullamore, Ireland.   We suspect she may be the first musician from the Seattle region to ever qualify for this elite competition.  Aurora can be heard at Leo's weekly Jam Session at Paddy Coyne's in Seattle & Tacoma & Bellevue..   Here's a video of Aurora  at the  2008 Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann in Ireland

Our thanks to Leo & Aurora, plus all the attendee's for a lovely evening !
