March 6th "The
Great West
Craic Fest" in Aberdeen featuring
Clumsy Lovers,
Culann's Hounds ,
Ockham's Razor, Amadan, Molly Malone Step Dancers and Clan Gordon
Pipes
Craic (pronounced "crack") equates to fun & entertainment in Irish
and the line-up promises ample amounts of both. Four Celtic-influenced rock bands will converge
at the Great West Coast
Craic Fest, making Aberdeen an epicenter of Celtic
rock music. Not the Aberdeen in Scotland, as might be expected, but
rather the quaint, historic logging town in Western Washington. The Clumsy
Lovers of Vancouver, Culann's
Hounds of San Francisco,
Amadan from Portland; and Ockham's Razor from Seattle will bring the vibrancy and vitality of
traditional Irish and Scottish
music and mix it with their own unique pulse of modern
rock, pop and even gypsy tunes .
Craic Fest will take place at the historic D&R Theatre in Aberdeen, WA (205
South I St.) Tickets are currently on sale at the official Craic Fest
website (http://greatwestcoast.com/fr_index.cfm
),
on each featured band's website, select ticket outlets and brownpapertickets.com.

April Verch Concerts & fiddle workshop The
first thing that strikes you is the pure energy that infuses her
fiddle playing and step dancing. A native of the Ottawa
Valley in Ontario, April is world-class fiddler, a champion
stepdancer, an acclaimed composer, and a vocalist whose
voice is absolutely captivating. It was April's time spent
studying music at Berklee College of Music in Boston that first
lead her to blend together different forms of traditional
music to form her own distinct sound. She then launched her
professional career by winning the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddle
Champion and the Canadian Open Fiddle Champion titles (the first
and only woman to win both). April had the honor of
performing at the recent Olympics opening ceremony. In addition to
her touring schedule, she is in great demand for her teaching
skills at workshops, master classes and music camps. She has
released seven recordings to date, her 2001 Rounder Records
release earned a JUNO nomination for "Best Roots/Traditional
Album".
